Time is short
The works of a clock, minus its pendulum
so it ticks way faster than usual, strikes often, time rushing by.

Dale Copeland
The superb art/craft of clock-making. Admirable, but a dying art.
This one works beautifully and I'm full of admiration; so very many cogs all working together.
Without the pendulum to slow it down, it rushes through time.
And without the clockface and numbers, there's no keeping track.
So the chimes seem to happen at random.
It's like life really.
And the person stands by and watches it fly.
