| I was introduced once as "champion of Taranaki artists" and it's my proudest label. "Champion" in the sense of fighter-for, wearing-the-colours-of, not best-among. I've run the Virtual Tart website for Taranaki artists since 1997, and organised Taranaki exhibitions around the world. This picture was taken setting up "Painted Tarts" in New Plymouth. I set up the Real Tart gallery in 2003 and ran it for a year until a Trust was set up and took over. (And I scuttled back to my studio resolved, yet again, to be an artist when I grow up.) |
