Alice Devereux, my granny, lived through two world wars, and the bits of peace & depression between.
The frame is made from the lid of her piano (beautiful wood - they didn't use veneers back then).
She played the piano to accompany silent movies in the Inglewood Town Hall.
She did a great job of improvising - I loved her galloping cowboys.
More of her work can be seen on the Virtual TART site at www.tart.co.nz
