And STILL I don't understand
assemblage of found objects
very old china doll (from Hell's Kitchen street market in New york)
on collaged coaster, in frame made of old skirting boards
35 X 35 X 3 cm
by Dale Copeland, 2015
I'd made that collaged background in 2004, for a coaster exhibition.
I'd titled it "So much I don't understand".
Eleven years later, I used it because it felt like the right background for that raggy little doll and the totally out-of-scale blistered and peeling old frame.
And STILL, there's so much I don't know, don't understand.
